The thing is that the philosophy of life, that the behavior script, the behavior of the great majority of US citizens and of the whole USA is really none other that the same philosophy of life and behavior script of any third world poor country of inferior races (I.E: Mexico, Honduras, Venezuela, Nicaragua, Panama, Colombia, Uruguay, India, Pakistan)

And the anti-aristocratic values of americans, the conformist values who are very conformed to every trait of their own reality, an extreme conformism and passive nihilism as a result of being infected with the extreme conformism and passive nihilism of the immigrants who move to USA who are even more passive, more conformists than native US citizens.  There is a theory called "mirror neurons" that says that the behaviour patterns of people are shaped by others and by the society they live in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mirror_neuron  There are many other behaviour theories as well that claim that people's behaviour is shaped by the society like The Bandwagon Effect, Consensus Reality, Argumentun Ad-Populum, etc

US citizens and legal and illegal immigrants are not only conformists with their personal incomes, but also conformists with every thing even with the way roads, cities and houses are built, they are all depressed (But they are not aware that they are depressed and if they are aware that they are depressed they don't know the cause of their depression which is capitalism, zionism and imperialism and by the way the whole USA is built and the whole system of USA which must be destroyed and replaced by a brand new USA.

Indeed, the whole USA has been failed and wrong since 4th of July of 1776, this country as it is must be totally destroyed and replaced by a brand new USA with a new political system, new philosophy of life.

Most americans are not aware that even their food, drug and alcoholic drinks addiction are caused by having to deal with toxic people on a daily basis (toxicity caused by the capitalist system)

And they are also are not aware that their depression is also created by the way roads, cities, houses are built, by many other things like a diet high in carbohydrates, anti-human workshifts, low wages etc, by the way americans behave (narcissism which is wrong, we need loving, cooperative people altruists friendly people not narcissism in order for people to experience happiness, and by the long boring depressive time they have to drive for every thing because cities in USA are not scientifically built, but built by stupid people (every thing in failed and wrong in USA)

And american whites and native people who are already conformists and anti-communists by default, become even more conformists, more conservative, more bourgeoise, more anti-revolutionary with the infection of millions of conformists anti-revolutionary people, with the impact of the behaviour patterns of the millions of immigrants who move to USA who import from their own country the conformist, traditional anti-revolutionary behaviour patterns that they had in their own societies where they were born to reinforce and to increase the already lowlife, conformist right-wing traditional religious anti-politics, anti-protesting, anti-radical movement mentality that already exists in USA.

So because the anti-socialism, pro-oligarchy, pro-rich people, pro-celebrities, pro-Trump, pro-Democrats, anti-change, anti-radical traditional mentality of the millions of illegal and legal immigrants who live in USA is so powerful, the anti-progress pro-poverty, anti-communist political parties of the anti-communist status quo and anti-communist establisment (Democrats and Republicans) will always win presidential elections.  

 So at the end of the day that's the real cause of why The Democratic Party and The Republican Party get so many votes and this is why USA is falling behind China, while political parties that would be able to turn the USA into an ecologic, social, economic paradise on earth get very little votes in elections, like Jill Stein, Joseph Kishore, Jerry White of the World Socialist Website wsws.org, The Party for Socialism and Liberation, Workers World Party (Caleb Maupin who works in RT is a member of that Party), The party of Bob Avakian http://www.bobavakian.net/ and many other alternative anti-Israel anti-poverty, workers party who would be able to the USA and the US government into a dictatorship of the working class and small business owners, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dictatorship_of_the_proletariat which would be able to exercise violence and repression against the overthrown class of Elon Musk, Donald Trump, Bill Gates, against the jews who control USA and the other psychopaths who have been ruling this country for many years

SUBDIVISIONS IS A SONG ABOUT HOW NEOLIBERAL CAPITALISM TURNS PEOPLE INTO CONFORMIST DRONES !! Its a song about non-conformity and how the capitalist neoliberal economic-political model established by The Democratic Party and The Republican Party turns the whole nation into pre-programmed conforming drones. This is particularily bad in most cities suburbs where the roads, the corners, the mini shopping centers, the buildings and the homes are built exactly the same way and by the same construction builder, where people drive the same types and brands of cars and high school is all about being part of the crowd. The song is about the need for conformity and mass consumerism in the neoliberal economic model we live in. Neoliberalism cannot function without it. When I listen to it, I hear an amazingly written eulogy for society by Neil Peart, Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson.

I also think it represents Neil Peart, Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson falling away a bit from their earlier beliefs, as they mentioned they had. There is nothing inherently wrong with suburbia or living in it, if that is what someone desires. A lot of people don't have the desire to go to "the bright lights." This song is clearly more about conformity, which can be found anywhere in United States: the suburbs, in the city, or "the far unlit unknown." In my opinion, the only flaw in this song is the focus on suburbia as the only place where conformity can be found. Popular opinion has been manipulated to belive that The Suburbs are the worst place for conformity. Conformity also occurs when many people seek the same thing, including excitement in The Bright Lights (Everyone else is doing "the cool thing", so why shouldn't I?). That being said, Subdivisions is my favorite Rush song, and the best synth song ever. So much to write about this song. Basically, it's a song about the "ticking traps" that american people in this violent country fall into. A nightmare neoliberal-world where a person's main desire is a never ending escape from the suburbs. The suburbs can take many forms: from the boring, quiet life of suburbia to the pleasure seeking thrill ride of the big city. Ultimately, the suburbs offer nothing meaningful, and there is no escape within or between them. However, in the first verse an outlet is available: "the far unlit unknown." This unknown exist within each person-the unique thoughts and feelings that make an individual; tragically, few venture very far into this territory. I'm also inclined to think that it's more about teens trying to breakaway from suburbia (and thier upper-middle class parents telling them HOW to think/beleive/be), only for some to discover (as Neil Peart writes) " ...Some will sell their dreams for small desires - Or lose the race to rats - Get caught in ticking traps " Afterwards these suburb-raised, city-stressed folk "...start to dream of somewhere - To relax their restless flight - Somewhere out of a memory - Of lighted streets on quiet nights... " I think it's more of a commentary on the seduction of city life and the potential trappings it brings. It is also a social commentary on how cliques are hurtful, and how expectations of comformity often drive away our best and brightest. Very much like the suburbs of Tennessee, Boston, Pennsylvania, New York and Chicago.
